Ontario Expanding Mass Timber Construction
The Ontario government has announced plans to amend the Ontario Building Code to permit mass timber structures as tall as 18 storeys, as shared in blogTO. Currently, Ontario’s Building Code allows Encapsulated Mass Timber Construction buildings to be up to 12-storeys tall.
Expanding the use of advanced wood construction like mass timber helps build homes faster and reduce costs over time while supporting good-paying jobs in forestry, technology, engineering design and manufacturing, announced Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli.
